Reconciliation Action Plans -
Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP) are for the private and public sector. A RAP facilitates, nurtures and builds on developing local respectful and meaningful relationships with the Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. A RAP is tailored and developed in context with a clients operations and functions. As an example;
A Local Government Authority RAP would support community development, promote cultural awareness and support cultural heritage management processes and identify employment and career opportunities.
A Health organisation RAP would support community health services, facilitate health programs and projects, promote cultural awareness and provide policy direction in community clinical support service.
A Land and Water Management Authority RAP would work more closely with Traditional Owners on cultural heritage and environmental management.
A Commercial or Private Business RAP would facilitate internal staff training on community cultural awareness, provide career and employment opportunities to community, provide education about culture to their industry network and celebrating reconciliation week as annual event.
Many Australian businesses and organisations within the private, commercial and public sector have commenced their reconciliation journeys and are building on their relationships with community and embracing cultural awareness as businesses and organisations. There are 4 RAPs to be completed over the journey, with each RAP having a theme -
